topic: Questions about Line-up Analyzer

I hope everyone had a successful fantasy football season!

If you need line-up advice for week 17 (I am guessing nobody does?) please email me at support@draftanalyzer.com with your username, password and league name and I will email you the proper starting line-up. We will not be updating the line-up analyzer as we are all on vacation this week....but I am checking emails. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you,

Ted

We just launched a beta version of our latest sports news application called Sports Reader (www.sportsreader.com). This is a very simple and fast way to keep up on the sports news from around the web. It includes links to mainstream news sources such as ESPN, Yahoo, CBSSports.com, FoxSports, and AOL Fanhouse, as well as video from ESPN and NFL.com, sports focused twitter feeds, popular sports blogs and fantasy news sources.

Please post any and all feedback regarding our latest product: www.sportsreader.com

Thank you,

Ted

"Thanks for letting me use this for free and to give feedback. Hope you guys come up with a good initial release."

Thank you! Your feedback helps us do just that, so I appreciate your thoughts.

"I have two injured #1 WR this week. They were both questionable Wed and Thurs, but now are unlikely starts having missed practice Friday as well. This should be reflected in Lineup analyzer - it even deserves a column (or icon). When I ran "Optimize Lineup" again today, it should have dropped these two (in my opinion) from the recommended lineup as they probably won't play.

If you can't easily add this, then I suggest the following 1) Add a note to the screen that recommendations don't include adjustment for injuries (and maybe a link to an external site with consolidated injury reports) AND 2) Allow the user to manually check a box next to each player to exclude from the lineup opt. analysis. For example, if I had a guy hurt, or my gut just said he would have a bad week, or I just don't like him (or plan to trade him before game time) I check the box next to his name, then hit "Optimize" Lineup analyzer gives me the best lineup that does NOT include the checked player(s)."

Good idea. Adding updated injury news is critical. Ideally we can include this directly in the tool itself. I hadn't thought about the feature to keep a player on the bench when pressing the Optimize Line-up button. I guess you can do this with the current functionality (press Optimize line-up; manually bench that player and then select another player to start) but a check box is a lot easier.

Thank you!

"Hi ted!

i found in ie8 adding players didn't actually work very well. i had to wait some time (way too long) before the player loaded and then gave up for safari. no problems there. players loaded nicely and scoring changes seemed to update. however i could not add 1) steve smith wr car. no drop down no way to toggle through all smiths just a select few. i tried adding steve smith by pure typing doesn't work 2) had the same problem with KEVIN SMITH rb det. "

Thank you! I just tested adding players in IE8 and it seemed to work very well...I will keep an eye on it though so thank you for bringing it up. When adding Steve Smith, you have to type in "Smith, S" and then he will appear (Steve Smith - CAR is the top selection...we will add team names to this list). The same goes for Kevin Smith. Too many smiths in the list!!

"This application would be nice if you could enter those players owned by others in my fantasy league, which would then allow the application to make suggestions as to what players are available to be picked up based on their point value in my league. "

Good suggestion. We will add this soon (hopefully this season). We already have the data from your draft, so it is pretty easy to add this functionality. We won't have updates to rosters during the season, but 98% of the key waiver wire pick-ups during the season are of players that went undrafted in your league...and we know who those players are from the Draft Analyzer data.

Thank you,

Ted

"Do Line up Analyzer take into account players injuries?"

Yes. Our weekly projected stats take into account all known player injuries.

Please post your feedback about the Line-up Analyzer here. We will be spending much of this fall (and next summer) improving the Line-up Analyzer, so please let us know what features you want. We will likely add the easy stuff this fall and keep the major enhancements for 2010...but we do want to address as many enhancement requests as possible.

Thank you,

It appears I wasn't the last to experience DA freezing up while making a pick during the draft. I hope you guys have this one figured out by next year...

First be sure that you are using one of the supported browsers for the Draft Analyzer:

Firefox, Internet Explorer 7 or 8, or Safari.

The Draft Analyzer is NOT functional in Google Chrome or older versions of Internet Explorer. If you are using one of these it may throw off the recommendation engine.

1) The difference between VBD and dVBD is that dVBD takes into account a player's Average Draft Position (ADP). dVBD uses ADP to predict where a player is likely to be drafted, VBD does not. That is the major difference. Other than that they both have virtually the same recommendation metrics.

2) The calculations take your scoring rules and multiply them by your projections to give you total fantasy points.

3) No, no known issues.

Also, I'd like to know definitions of columns such as "dollars, points, etc.".

I'm looking for detailed documentation on scoring setting, and other aspects of the tool. So far, I can only find high level videos.

For instance, under defensive team settings, there are rows for defensive td, interception TD, interception, fumble return td, etc.

If in my league defensive td's are worth 5 points and interceptoins 1 point, would putting 5 points in defensive td and interception td, and 1 point for interception give the player 11 points for an int td, 5 points or 6 points?

I setup my rules, and the recommended players aren't making sense to me. I get very different recommendations prior to the draft starting depending on whether I select dynamic value based drafting, or just value based drafting. The dynamic version has DT's at the top, and value based drafting is recommending all QBS.

1. What is the difference between value based drafting, and dynamic value based drafting? (I couldn't find this documented.)

2. Can I look under the covers, and see more of the calculations per player, to see what's going on?

3. Any known problems?

Hi,

There is another way to edit the draft order, and this can be done using the Draft Trades feature in the desktop version. You can use the Draft Trades feature to pre-populate the entire draft order.

For a video on entering Draft Trades go to the following link:

Hi,

The Draft Analyzer is supported by the following browsers:

Firefox, Internet Explorer 7 or 8, and Safari

It will not work properly in older versions of Internet Explorer or in Google Chrome.

Clicking player position filters under the "all players" tab didn't filter properly. I changed to Firefox and it looks like it's working properly.

I see in the FAQ I can change this round by round, but I don't want to deal with this during the draft.

I was so happy with Draft Analyzer of years past. This new web version really sucks! It wouldn't sync with my cbs draft, had to everything manually.

Re-establish a well functioning desktop version....it wasn't broke, but you fixed it anyway (NOT!!!)
